August 2023 Updates

Introducing New Board Members

At the time of the annual meeting (in May), no one stepped forward to express willingness to be elected to serve as a board member. Since that time we engaged people we considered suitable prospects, and three new board members have stepped forward. We are grateful and confident they will serve us well. These appointees will need to stand for reelection (if they choose to continue to serve) at next year’s annual meeting. They are Randy Green, Trevor Podd, and Eric Van Ert. We heartily welcome them!

Thanking Former Board Members

Obviously, there have been several changes in the Board of Directors since our annual meeting. Three of the five members at that time ultimately resigned from serving on the board: Russ Augustin, Tom Meyer, and Jannine Beyer. All resigned for personal or family reasons, and to protect their privacy we are sharing no details. But we can say this: These are very good people who served OLCA faithfully and well! We all owe them a debt of gratitude and, if any of you have the chance, please express your thanks to them.

Thanks for your patience on Lawn and Landscaping projects

We express our thanks for the level of patience and understanding shown by owners during what turned out to be a challenging start of summer for our landscapers and irrigation/sprinkler workers. The lack of rain during April and May was very hard on the start of the growing season for grass and young plants. Major problems with our aging sprinkler system, both underground pipes and sprinkler heads, confronted our new contractors who were also trying to learn about our irrigation system. A number of hose bibs (outside water spigots on buildings) also failed this year. Many frustrations resulted, for owners as well as for workers. Hopefully the rest of the growing season will provide much needed relief for everyone!

Complaint Resolved

The litigation that was mentioned at our annual meeting in May has been resolved. We are not allowed to say any more than this—and we understand that this is frustrating to all within our community. No information on the origin or focus of the complaint or the terms of the resolution of the matter can be shared. Let us all be content with the fact that the matter has been resolved.

Driveway Replacements

Two driveways will be replaced within the next few weeks as part of our multi-year replacement of all driveways. This year the driveways serving Buildings 24 and 25 on Woodbridge and 40 and 41 on Westlake will be replaced. Addresses impacted: 8881—8895 & 8901—8915 Woodbridge and 8649—8655 & 8701—8703 Westlake. More detailed information that includes the timetable, parking instructions, and how to protect the new asphalt will be shared with all residents of these buildings prior to the start of the projects.
