7-28-20 Update
It is now the end of July and there are a number of questions on the minds of owners with regards to our landscaping. As everyone knows, we have a new landscape contractor, Villani Landshapers. There has been some challenges this first season, but please be patient, we are confident we will successfully work through these challenges. Next week there is a meeting scheduled to address our issues and concerns. Below you will find answers to the most common questions we have received. Should you have additional questions, please do not hesitate to email Linda Meyer directly.
Some of our Crab Apple trees look like they’re dying. Is there something wrong?
Fortunately, there is nothing wrong with the trees. For reasons unknown, the Crab Apples were not sprayed this spring. This resulted in yellowing and eventual abscission of the leaves. This does not mean the trees are dying; it simply means they won’t be visually pleasing this year. We will ensure they get sprayed next spring so they will be beautiful throughout the summer.
A number of trees were removed last year leaving quite a few “bare” spots in the complex. What’s happening in those areas?
Villani is in the process of reviewing each area and working on proposals for replacements. Once received, the B&G Committee as well as the Board of Directors will review and schedule an implementation plan for each area.
I saw Villani come through and trim bushes and shrubs in June, but some bushes and shrubs weren’t trimmed. Are they coming back?
Yes! On July 30-31st, Villani will be making the second round of bush and shrub trimming. If your bushes or shrubs are not trimmed to your satisfaction, please inform Linda.
6-7-20 Update
Villani Landshapers will be doing a combination of herbicide for weed control and fertilizer lawn care application on Tuesday 6/9/2020. This will include the 2-4D product that some find the odor strong. Download additional information on these 2 products are listed below. Please contact Buildings and Grounds Chairperson Linda Meyer with any questions.

5-30-20 Update
Wood chipping, or mulching to some, will begin the first week of June and take approximately three days. All areas currently designated for wood chips will receive new chips/mulch. Please do not to ask the workers to “customize” the placement of chips in your area. The “Do Not Service” protocol does not apply to these designated areas. The same company that applied wood chips three years ago will be applying once again this year, in fact they are the ONLY company that does this in Wisconsin.
Special thanks to OLCA Communications Committee member Cathy Podd, who helped arrange off-site storage for the wood chips that would otherwise have to have been stored on-site during this process.

B&G Committee Announcement
Spring has sprung and Villani Landshapers, our new landscaping service, has begun their spring clean up. Within the week, Villani will be applying the early spring fertilizer to the lawns. This includes a fertilizer 13-0-0 with organic materials with a 25% slow release and a pre-emergent (Dimension) for crabgrass control. Download the Safety Data Sheet for this fertilizer.
OLCA has a handful of residents that prefer to take care of their little corner of the world themselves (weeding, trimming, fertilizing, etc.). Villani Landshapers is very respectful of that, and will be providing owners with flags to mark those areas. If you would like a flag, please contact Linda Meyer to ensure you receive one. Please note that this does not apply to any portion of the lawns; it only applies to the beds connected to your unit. Also, please note that any deviation from the plant materials already planted in the beds around your unit must be approved by the Buildings & Grounds Committee and the Board of Directors PRIOR to installation. Please do not hesitate to contact for further clarification and instruction.
