Selling Your Unit, Here’s Something To Keep In Mind

Many condo owners may have noticed the popularity of the Overlook Lakes Condominiums by the number of sales of condominiums here in the past year or so. We welcome our new residents! But there is something that should be kept in mind if you’re selling your condo. Many condo owners give a key, a garage door opener or garage door keypad code to a relative, close friend or a neighbor for emergencies. That’s a great idea, but if you’re selling your unit, be sure to get these keys or other means of entry to your unit back from them to give to the new owner.

If you’re a unit owner with such access to a neighbor’s unit, please return the key or garage door opener to your neighbor if that person is still occupying their unit, or bring them to the management office if that person has left before the closing of the sale of that unit. I’m sure that if we were a new resident, we would not want a “stranger” to have access to our unit, no matter how well-meaning that relative, friend or neighbor may be.

If a new owner elects to change the locks or keypad code, please remember that our management company personnel are to have the ability to enter your unit in an emergency when the resident is not home. Please consider entrusting a new key to the OLCA office.
