Watch For Neighbors Walking & Bicycling

It’s been great to see our community out walking and bicycling our beautiful development!

It has been brought to the attention of the OLCA community that while most people give “walkers” and bicycle riders a “wide berth” when driving past them, there are a few who are clearly driving at an unsafe speed. At various locations along Westlake and Woodbridge, the curves in the road are such that a driver cannot see someone walking and the pedestrian/bike rider cannot see a vehicle coming until they have rounded the curve. This is particularly concerning on Woodbridge Drive, as there isn’t a sidewalk to walk on and ALL walkers, along with bicycle riders, must be on the street. Obviously, at a high rate of speed, this could have a catastrophic consequence.

With the safety of our community residents and guests top of mind, you will soon see new traffic signs on Woodbridge Drive posting a 20 mile per hour speed limit. While it is relatively certain that our residents are not exceeding safe driving speeds, it is known that Woodbridge Drive is used as a “short cut” road. In an effort to encourage safe driving speeds, the Greendale police department will be monitoring traffic from time to time and speeding tickets will be issued.

Let’s keep each other safe by driving the posted speed limits along Westlake or Woodbridge Drives.
